For the past 6 months I have been experimenting with more physical mediums, where I have found a deep love of jewelry making! I have been designing and selling unique earrings, necklaces, pins and more using air dry clay to make unique and playful charms!

My process begins with sculpting out the piece using air dry clay. Depending on how complicated the sculpt is, I will sculpt the piece in two parts. For example, the frog earrings above involve a two part process where I make the simple body first then add on the legs and eye bumps. If there is any hardware, I add it as the piece is drying to secure it in place. Once the piece is completely dried, I use a series of different grit sandpapers to create a smooth finish.

I then use a colored pencil to outline the sketch before going in with color. Each piece is painted with gouache paints and detailed with Prismacolor colored pencils. If need be, I will use a white acrylic marker to add highlights and brights to the piece. Once the paint has dried, I dip each piece into a clear UV varnish to protect it!

With creating all of my fun product, I have started to sell some of my work at markets! Since my product is very colorful and playful, the graphic design matches by having hand-drawn elements and quirky type. This style also adds to the handmade aesthetic of my product.
